- Katzenelson, Judah Lob Benjamin
- (1864-1917)Russian physician, writer and scholar. He was born in Chernigov in the Ukraine. He practised medicine in St Petersburg and his medical writings contributed to the formu-lation of a Hebrew terminology in medicine. A supporter of the Haskalah, he was a lecturer at the Institute of Jewish Studies in St Petersburg and later its head. He was one of the editors of the Russian Jewish encyclopaedia, and also wrote articles, stories and fables.
